Salary
Salary is commensurate with education and experience as per the CCFA Collective Agreement. At initial placement, minimum placement is step 11 ($70,437) and maximum initial placement is step 4 ($94,548).

Once employed, dependent upon category, increments-for-service allow for progression to step 1 ($112,872) for Category II (master degree) or to step 2A ($105,175) for Category I (bachelor degree).

Please note annual salary amounts (gross) listed above are as of April 1, 2024.

Job Description

Job Description Additional Information
Camosun College is looking to hire for the following courses:

FALL 2024 (Sept – Dec): 
  • IST 095: Ways of Wellness: Learning (14 weeks) – 25% workload (SAEC)
  • ICW 114: Good Relations (14 weeks) – 25% workload (SAEC
  • 2 sections of IST 250: QĆÁSET Cultural Camp (7 weeks) – 50% workload/course (Online, SAEC and Lansdowne Campus) 
  • 2 sections of IST 120: Introduction to Indigenous Peoples (14 weeks) – 25% workload/course (online and/or face-to-face)

WINTER 2025 (Jan – April): 
  • IST 096: Ways of Wellness: Community (14 weeks) – 25% workload (SAEC
  • IST 230: Community Engagement & Action 
  • ICW 115: Cultural Teachings (7 weeks) – 25% workload (SAEC)
  • 1 section of ICW 116: Community Care Strategies (14 weeks) – 25% workload (SAEC
  • 4 sections of IST 120: Introduction to Indigenous Peoples (14 weeks) – 25% workload/course (on line and/or face-to-face)

Candidates are asked to specify their Indigenous ancestry in their cover letter in addition to which courses they are interested in teaching. 

 All courses run for 14 up to weeks from September 2024 to April 2025.

Grounded in a strong commitment to Indigenous community, Indigenous education and relational values, and lived experiences, IECC Instructors transform students’ worlds by recognizing them as intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual beings. Our students engage in holistic education and learn in classrooms, in community, and on the land with supportive instructors who are culturally informed, student centered, and value preparing students for achieving their educational, employment, and community contribution goals.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to teach courses in at least the following subjects:
    • Indigenous Studies at the Post-Secondary level 
    • Indigenous Studies at the Community Wellness level
  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field preferred
  • 2 years’ teaching experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Knowledge of Indigenous educational, social and cultural issues emerging from lived experience and study
  • An Indigenous student-centered approach and a demonstrated positive, enthusiastic and caring manner that is at all times, respectful of the adult learner
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience facilitating learning and instruction with information and communication technology
  • Strong commitment to adult education and student success using trauma-informed teaching practices to support diverse students
  • Experience using creative and culturally relevant instructional practices
  • Experience in program/curriculum development and knowledge of adult education principles and concepts in Indigenous post-secondary education
