Salary
Salary is commensurate with education and experience as per the CCFA Collective Agreement.
At initial placement, minimum placement is step 11 ($68,385) and maximum initial placement is step 4 ($91,794). Once employed, dependent upon category, increments-for-service allow for progression to step 1 ($109,584) for Category II (master degree) or to step 2A ($102,112) for Category I (bachelor degree). Please note annual salary amounts (gross) listed above are as of April 1, 2023.

Job Description
Camosun College values teaching excellence and is committed to successful learning for its students. The Post-degree Diploma (PDD) in Adventure Education is one of a suite of programs that reside within the Centre for Sport and Exercise Education (CSEE) at Camosun College.

The PDD in Adventure Education supports the development of creative and critical thinking skills in applying outdoor, experiential, and nature-based approaches to learning and teaching in outdoor environments. The diploma is designed to serve the needs of a broad audience such as educators within formal (K-12) and informal settings, guides, youth workers, and health and human service professionals.
The Centre for Sport & Exercise Education invites applications from qualified educators to teach the following course during the Fall 2024 term of the Adventure Education Diploma:

  • Adventure Program Design (ADED 505)

This course is taught online over the fall term using synchronous and asynchronous methods.
The successful candidate must have:

  • Ability to foster and maintain a positive social dynamic in an online environment
  • Experience of curriculum/program design in the broad field of outdoor/adventure/experiential education
  • Ability to work with the learning outcomes and intended content of the course in a way that allows for individualization of student learning relevant to their needs and interests
  • Ability to work flexibly with students to accommodate their professional schedules where appropriate

The Centre for Sport & Exercise Education (CSEE) at Camosun College offers unique academic programs in the areas of Athletic & Exercise Therapy, Sport Management, Kinesiology, Massage Therapy, and Adventure Education. These programs provide diverse curricula that nurture creative thinking and prepare students for productive and rewarding careers.

REPLACE Qualifications with:

  • Minimum of a Masters degree in outdoor adventure education or a related field
  • Recent instructional experience at the post-secondary level
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
