Job Description
GENERAL STATEMENT
Under the supervision of the Groundskeeper III and as instructed by a Groundskeeper II or III, performs maintenance on all college hardscapes, landscapes and outdoor areas to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for staff, faculty, students and visitors.

TYPICAL DUTIES
- Performs landscape maintenance and work orders that do not require Horticulture Certification; this includes maintaining laws, shrubs, flower beds by digging, hoeing, weeding, planting, watering, fertilizing, mowing, pruning and edging;
- Performs hardscape maintenance to ensure roadways, parking areas and walkways are clear of hazards and debris by sweeping, power spraying, blowing and physically removing material;
- Operates maintenance and grounds equipment, including ride on and handheld equipment (mowers, rototillers, blowers, trimmers, edgers, tractors etc.);
- Maintains artificial turf;
- Erects signs on Camosun properties;
- Completes routine outdoor painting projects, including stairs, railings and other hardscape markings;
- Drives Camosun College trucks, to trailer equipment to job sites, pick up supplies and equipment fuel, dump and dispose materials, and to occasionally complete snow removal and sanding/salting activity;
- Maintains and organizes grounds buildings and keeps equipment in safe, good working condition, including minor and, applicable major, repairs;
- Provide information to students, staff, faculty and visitors about way finding, parking procedures etc. Interaction with staff and faculty in regards to grounds activity, by fielding request for work or requests to stop work, and following up with supervisor;
- Assists with irrigation projects;
- Ensures safe working conditions are maintained while performing tasks;
- Performs other related duties similar in scope and complexity.
Qualifications
Grade 12 education plus six months related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be in good physical health and have the ability to operate equipment and tools related to landscape and hardscape maintenance. Must have the ability to operate a computer for email, required training and work orders. Class 5 or 7 (N) BC Driver’s license is required.
