Job Description |
GENERAL STATEMENT Under the supervision of the Chair of Dental Programs, the Lab Clerk, Dental Clinic, is primarily responsible for cleaning and organizing the dental clinic equipment and supplies as well as supporting and maintaining safety in the Dental Clinic. Working with guidance from the Superavisor, Dental Clinic, the lab clerk is part of a collaborative team who foster the learning of dental skills in a clinic environment. TYPICAL DUTIES • Sterilizes and disinfects dental instruments and/or equipment used on students and clients in the dental clinic; • Operates sterilizers and X-Ray processing machines; • Reports any equipment malfunction and/or repair needs to the Supervisor, Dental Clinic; • Stocks the dental clinic cupboards and trolleys; • Prepare equipment and supplies for faculty as requested; • Conducts regular cleaning of clinic equipment to maintain an orderly and secure physical environment; • Counts inventory supplies when directed by the Supervisor, Dental Clinic, on an annual or bi-annual basis; • Attend meetings as required; • Performs other related duties similar in scope and complexity. |
Qualifications | Grade 12 education, Certified Dental Assistant and six months experience in dental health care, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Good communication skills and a proven ability to work effectively with others. Ability to perform physical activities such as pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying moderately heavy equipment and/or items (up to 40lbs). |
