Salary
Salary is commensurate with education and experience as per the BCGEU Collective Agreement.
At initial placement, for bachelor degree minimum placement is step 11 ($69,753) and maximum initial placement is step 6 ($86,808)
 
At initial placement, for master degree, journeyperson certificate or professional qualification such as registered nurse degree, minimum placement is step 10 ($73,162) and maximum initial placement is step 3 ($97,599)
 
Once employed, dependent upon maximum placement, increments-for-service allow for progression to step 2A ($104,142) for employees with step 3 as maximum or to step 1 ($111,776) for employees who reach step 2.

Job Description
Continuing Education and Contract Training seeks applications from qualified candidates familiar with the BC coast to fill a vacancy in the Nautical Program – a department with a long and proud history of providing a range of training from Basic Safety to more comprehensive courses leading to a Certificate of Competency as Master or Mate, issued by Transport Canada, Marine Safety Branch. While this is a full time vacancy, candidates interested in part-time work are also encouraged to apply.

Qualifications
Qualifications
• Valid Canadian Certificate of Competency as Master 3000 GT or higher (STCW 2010),
• Minimum of one year of recent experience teaching adults,
• Minimum of one year of recent sea experience in a leadership position (master or senior officer),
• Experience working in a simulator environment (ideally TRANSAS system),
• Approved Transport Canada teaching qualification or willingness to achieve one,
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
